Thrasher!

A rare visitor to the deck, a Brown Thrasher (Toxostoma rufum). Their normal diet is fruit and insects, which I don’t have on offer on the deck. In a decade, this is the second time I’ve seen one on deck. The ground is still so frozen that all manner of unusual visitors have been landing. Brown Thrashers are gorgeous birds, and I love their whiskers. All images 1200 x 803, click for larger sizes, or do the slideshow: http://Caine.zenfolio.com/p182616788/slideshow

  1. Aaw, too bad, they are interestin’ birds! Although, in truth, you usually hear them more than you see them.
