Natura, finished

It’s done. I’ll try to get photos in natural light in the next day or so. Right now, I need sleep. ETA: okay, got slightly better shots.

  1. Awesomeness!

I’ve gushed over the feathers-and-skull before, and all of that still stands; but I’d also like to mention how much I like the texturiness of the middle red (or possibly brownish-red, or multi-red) swath.

  2. Thank you so much, Cicely! The colours were inspired by Manzanita trees*, Iron wood trees and Ribbon wood trees.

*Which I miss something fierce, sometimes I ache to see them again. I used to be surrounded by them when I lived in Idyllwild, Ca.

  3. I have a vague memory of seeing Manzanita trees when I was a kid. I couldn’t believe tree trunks could be that color, naturally—but there were too many of them for someone to have painted as a prank.

  4. Congratulations, Caine. This is simply beautiful. All of it. I could stare at it for hours at a time, many times over, and still find that it moves me, that pulls me in. (I don’t know if that makes sense, but that’s how the words want to come out right now. Perhaps my meds are making me more woozy than I think.)

  5. Thank you, A! Very much. It’s fine, that makes sense. I’ll probably put this up for sale in a local show next June.
