I kept looking at this, and my eyes just refused to resolve it into a single creature (foliage extra); they kept insisting that the yellow was some separate, metallic gold object, and that the (red) spider was crawling out of it. I finally gave up and just googled Micrathena cyanospina, and suddenly it all came together.

  2. The pictures kinda left with a sense of, “Really, Evolution? I get that primary colors kinda “pop”, but blue chopsticks attached to a red spider’s butt with a yellow widget? Really?

  3. Really, really! I bought Piotr’s book, Relics and It’s just amazing, the beauty. Compared to, well, just about everything, we naked apes got seriously shortchanged on the awesome colours and appearance front.
